Couple creates “Owl Man”, the first gin produced in Macau

Rebeca Fellini and her husband have just created the first gin brand “Made in Macau”, entitled “Owl Man”. The drink is produced entirely in the territory, in a distillery located in Taipa, and aims to show the name of Macau to the world. The production is recent and, for now, the bottles are sold online and in some in-person sales points.

“Owl Man” is the name of the new brand of gin entirely produced by the hand of Rebeca Fellini and her husband. The distillery is in Taipa and the idea for the business started about two years ago, during the pandemic. “My husband used to brew beer just for the fun of it. When the pandemic appeared, everything closed, we were stuck in Macau and one day he told me that, as I didn’t like beer, he wanted to make gin. On his birthday I gave him a kit”, Rebeca Fellini told HM.

Then began a troubled journey, with a lot of bureaucracy and challenges to face as it was the establishment of a new brand of an alcoholic beverage in the territory. Finally, with a production license obtained a few weeks ago, the first bottles of “Owl Man” can already be found on the market. “We don’t export yet. This month we are exclusively at a shopping center in Macau. Next month we will be in a supermarket for sale online and then in some bars and restaurants.”
