The joint bid of Spain and Portugal for the 2030 World Cup has a surprising last-minute partner. According to the British newspaper The Times, Ukraine joins the Iberian candidacy for the organization of the World Cup, with a symbolic participation that will allow it to add its name to that of Portugal and Spain.
According to The Times, the measure was approved by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Portuguese and Spanish governments.
Under this plan, Ukraine, currently at war, would host one of the tournament’s groups.
