Frenchman Alain Aspect, American John F. Clauser and Austrian Anton Zeilinger win the Nobel Prize in Physics are the winners of this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced this Tuesday.
The distinction was awarded “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell’s Theorem, and for pioneering quantum information science.”
“It has become increasingly clear that a new type of quantum technology is emerging. We can see that the laureates’ work with entangled states is of great importance, even beyond fundamental questions about the interpretation of quantum mechanics,” says Anders Irbäck, chairman of the Nobel Committee for Physics.
