More than 11 thousand cases of domestic violence were registered by PSP in the first nine months of the year
The data released today point to a decrease of about 9% compared to the same period last year. From January 1 to September 30, 2020, the PSP recorded an average of 40.5 cases per day, totaling 11,100 crimes of domestic violence. “Such record shows, even so, a decrease of 8.58% in relation to the same period of 2019”, the Police of Public Security (PSP) advances in a statement.
Between the first half of March and the second half of April, “the biggest gap between the 2020 and 2019 registrations was observed, with a decrease in 2020”, says the PSP, stating that “the dates in question are antecedents and coinciding with the three periods of state of emergency in Portugal ”due to the covid-19 pandemic.
