The Netherlands and Japan played out a 2-2 draw today in the opening match of Group F for the 2026 football World Cup, held in Arlington, United States.
At the AT&T Stadium, the Dutch national team took the lead twice following goals from Virgil van Dijk in the 50th minute and Crysencio Summerville in the 64th minute. However, Japan managed to fight back and equalize both times, with goals courtesy of Keito Nakamura in the 57th minute and Daichi Kamada in the 89th minute.

With the points shared, both teams sit level in the group standings. Group F also features Sweden and Tunisia, who are scheduled to face each other later on Monday at 03:00 Lisbon time.
