Donald Trump is traveling to China accompanied by 16 executives, including Elon Musk of Tesla, Tim Cook of Apple, and Larry Fink of BlackRock, The New York Times reported on Monday. The newspaper mentions a list provided by the White House, which also includes Kelly Ortberg of Boeing, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs, Cristiano Amon of Qualcomm, Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone, and Larry Culp of GE Aerospace.
Among the companions are also the chief executives of Cargill, Citi, Coherent, Illumina, Mastercard, Micron, and Visa. The only women included are Jane Fraser of Citi and Dina Powell of Meta. According to the New York Times, which cites government members, Trump wants to address the creation of an investment commission and another for trade with China.

The inclusion of Musk seems to indicate a rapprochement with Trump following his departure from the government in May 2025, where he headed the designated Department of Government Efficiency, focused on cutting public spending. Trump and Musk parted ways after a sharp confrontation sparked by the budget package promoted by the former.
Following Trump’s return to the White House, there was speculation that Musk could serve as an intermediary with China, as he has repeatedly praised Tesla’s presence in the Asian country.
