Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated at a press conference that Beijing urges the parties involved to act with prudence, resolve disputes through dialogue, and quickly restore peace and stability in the region.
Lin assured that China will continue to strive to contribute to ending the conflict and will do everything in its power to protect the safety of Chinese-invested vessels and Chinese crews.
The spokesperson added that the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of countries in the region must be respected, as well as the legitimate interests of the international community.
The statements come amid uncertainty surrounding the conflict in the Middle East. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the conflict is at a “decisive turning point” during a meeting in Beijing with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.

The statement coincides with the fragile ceasefire in place since April between Iran and the United States, following the U.S. announcement that it would end the military operation aimed at ensuring the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, while seeking a definitive agreement with Tehran.
China has repeatedly condemned the U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran, called for a ceasefire, the resolution of the crisis through dialogue and negotiation, and free navigation in the strait.
