Macau stepped up its international promotion as an investment and business destination in Madrid, with the Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) highlighting the opportunities offered by the “Macau + Hengqin” model to local and international business leaders

To attract investment and boost industrial development, IPIM participated in the “Sentir Macau Roadshow in Madrid,” an initiative organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office, strengthening the link between the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector and the tourism sector.

IPIM participated in the event with a booth dedicated to promoting investment opportunities in Macau and in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, having organized a delegation of 120 businesspeople to take part in the initiative.

The roadshow took place from April 17 to 21 in the Puente del Rey pedestrian zone in central Madrid. In the 36-square-meter exhibition space, IPIM presented, through multimedia content, in-person sessions, and direct counseling, the strategic positioning “Macau + Hengqin,” as well as the advantages of the “MICE² Macao x Hengqin” brand and various investment incentive policies.

Among the highlights was the announcement of the second phase of the Support Plan for Establishing a First Store in Macau, for which applications open on May 1, allowing investors to plan projects according to their needs and schedules.

During the event, IPIM provided on-the-spot consultation services regarding the business environment, infrastructure, and market opportunities, promoting economic exchange in multiple languages. Approximately 100 consultations were recorded, with nearly 30% of those interested seeking information on business sectors and investment conditions, highlighting the interest of the international market.

IPIM also took the opportunity to promote the 31st Macao International Fair (MIF), which will take place in October. For the first time, the event will include an exhibition area dedicated to Spanish-speaking countries, as well as thematic forums aimed at deepening cooperation between China and these markets.

The initiative reinforces Macau’s position as a strategic platform and “key intermediary” linking China and Spanish-speaking countries, consolidating its role in international trade and investment.
