Mozambican President Daniel Chapo expressed his intention to open a new page for economic and commercial cooperation with China, aiming for a “real, tangible, and measurable” economic transformation in both countries.
“Mozambique is, at this moment, at a turning point. Fifty years after independence, 50 years of China-Mozambique cooperation, our political and diplomatic relations are excellent, now we want to open a new page for economic and commercial cooperation,” declared Daniel Chapo during a roundtable in China, according to information sent today by the Mozambican Presidency.
During the roundtable on Monday about Mozambique-China development and investment in the Chinese province of Qinghai, the Mozambican head of state said that the two countries are linked by a history that spans centuries and geographies, in a relationship forged in solidarity, trust, and mutual respect.
It is in the continuity of this cooperation that the African statesman hopes to transform, together with that Asian country, “opportunities into decisions, intentions into commitment,” with the signing of commitments for concrete investments in Mozambique.
“We are here to talk about projects, partnerships, and results. More than that, we are here to transform trust into investments, investment into real, tangible, and measurable economic transformation for the good of the Mozambican people and the good of our brother people of China, and in particular of this Qinghai province,” added the President of Mozambique.

According to Chapo, Mozambique offers, among others, opportunities in the areas of agriculture, technology, mining, gas and oil exploration, and also in the exploration of all types of minerals that exist in the country.
“It is a country rich in minerals, a country rich in agriculture, a country rich in tourism, a country that is currently designing special economic zones to create incentives, open the doors for investments from our brothers from China, and in particular from here in Qinghai,” noted the leader.
The Mozambican head of state stated that Chinese investors can find in Mozambique a favorable environment to invest and establish partnerships, taking advantage of the existing opportunities in the country and the framework created by the zero-tariff initiative announced by President Xi Jinping, which can boost Mozambican exports to China, promote joint growth, and generate added value for both economies.
“We are carrying out many state reforms to open the country to business and, especially, to our brothers from China, and very especially from Qinghai, which demonstrates that it is possible to grow together, reduce poverty together, and build a sustainable economy based on clean energy and innovation,” concluded the President.
Daniel Chapo has been in Beijing since last week for a state visit, in a context where Mozambique and China mark 50 years of diplomatic relations and seek to deepen strategic cooperation.
