Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed willingness to help mediate the conflict in the Middle East during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, the Kremlin announced.
According to the Russian presidency, Putin stressed that he is ready to “continue facilitating efforts toward a political and diplomatic solution” and to act as a mediator in achieving a “just and lasting peace” in the region.

During the conversation, Pezeshkian reportedly thanked Russia for its stance in international forums aimed at reducing hostilities, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided to the Iranian people.
The call comes after recent negotiations between the United States and Iran ended without an agreement, leaving tensions in the region unresolved.
