Known as the world’s gambling capital, Macau is the only place in China where casino gambling is legal. Six concessionaires operate in the region—MGM Resorts International, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Las Vegas Sands, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Wynn Resorts, and SJM Holdings—which renewed their concessions in December 2023 for another ten years, effective from January 1, 2024.

In the first two months of the year, Macau welcomed 7.82 million visitors, a 15.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

The region reached the milestone of 10 million visitors on March 21, hitting that figure 12 days earlier than in 2025. Authorities expect total visitor arrivals to reach 41 million by the end of the year.
