Private messages exchanged between Prince Harry and a British journalist have come to light during the Duke’s lawsuit against the Associated Newspapers group, revealing a closer relationship than Harry had described in court.
The Facebook conversations, dating from December 2011 to January 2012, show an informal and friendly tone, with mentions of parties, jokes about alcohol, and references to “cinema hugs,” contradicting Harry’s courtroom claim that he quickly cut off contact upon realizing the woman was a reporter.
The messages were disclosed in the UK Supreme Court as part of the privacy violation case against the company owning the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. In his testimony in January, the Duke stated he had met the journalist only once at a party and that contact ended the next day.

However, the newly revealed messages show regular exchanges over several weeks, including affectionate remarks, virtual kisses, and references to shared social gatherings. The material suggests that at the time, Harry maintained a cordial and close relationship with the journalist, then an editor at the Mail on Sunday.
The trial lasted 11 weeks and concluded this Tuesday, with the judge Nicklin’s decision pending.
