Tiger Woods has broken his silence following last week’s DUI arrest in Florida, sharing a statement on social media expressing regret and outlining his plans to focus on treatment.
“I fully understand the seriousness of my situation,” Woods wrote Tuesday. “I am taking a step back to seek treatment and concentrate on my health. This time is necessary to prioritize my well-being and work toward a lasting recovery”.
“I am committed to returning stronger, healthier, and more focused, both personally and professionally. I thank everyone for their understanding and support and ask for privacy for my family and myself during this period.”
The 50-year-old golfer’s statement comes just ahead of the 2026 Masters, leaving his participation uncertain. Woods was arrested in Jupiter Island, Fla., after rolling his SUV near his home around 2 p.m. Friday. Authorities say he attempted to pass a flatbed truck at high speed, swerved to avoid oncoming traffic, and collided with the vehicle.

Although Woods was unharmed, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said the golfer displayed signs of impairment. A breath test showed no alcohol, but officials believe he may have been under the influence of prescription medication or another drug. He was charged with DUI with property damage and refusing a lawful test.
This marks Woods’ second DUI arrest since 2017, when he pled guilty to driving under the influence of prescription drugs after being found passed out at the wheel. Woods was released from jail after several hours and appeared in a mug shot with bloodshot eyes.
