Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared to be blowing off steam Wednesday evening, overheard venting to his wife, Christine Grady, about someone yelling at him during a power walk near their home in an upscale Washington, DC neighborhood, NY Post reports.
The outing came just hours after Fauci had spent much of the day declining to answer questions before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, invoking his Fifth Amendment right more than 100 times during a tense hearing focused on the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic and the government’s handling of the crisis.
Fauci and Grady, married for 41 years, were seen walking together near their $2.4 million home. At one point, while fumbling with his phone and wearing a Georgetown University “IronMed 5K” T-shirt, Fauci was overheard complaining that someone had been shouting at him, punctuating the remark with an expletive as he continued his walk not long after the grilling he’d received from Republican senators.

Fauci had been compelled to testify after being subpoenaed by Senator Rand Paul, who has repeatedly accused him of concealing the origins of Covid-19 and misleading the public about the disease. Following the roughly four-hour hearing, Paul announced that his committee would move forward with contempt of Congress proceedings against Fauci over his refusal to answer even basic questions posed by Republican members.
Fauci, 85, led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 38 years before retiring in December 2022. At the time of his retirement, he was the highest-paid federal government employee in the country, earning $481,000 in his final year on the job, with he and his wife reportedly holding a combined net worth exceeding $11 million.
