Iran’s new supreme leader today called for the Strait of Hormuz to remain closed, after the US president described oil prices as secondary to the need to stop Iran.
Mojtaba Khamenei also called on countries in the region to close US military bases, in a speech read by a journalist on state television, AFP reported.
This is Mojtaba Khamenei’s first message since being named supreme leader on Sunday, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the start of the US-Israeli strikes against Iran on February 28.
Mojtaba Khamenei also vowed to avenge the victims of the war triggered by the US and Israeli attacks.

“A limited part of this revenge has been implemented so far, but until it is carried through to the end, it will continue to be one of our priorities,” he declared.
