The “2026 Macau Astronomy Study Tour & GEG Astronomy Cup – The 2nd Macau (International) Youth Astronomy Competition” is organised by the Science Education Promotion Association of Macau and title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG).
Jessica Cheng, President of the Science Education Promotion Association of Macau, expressed gratitude for GEG’s strong support for two consecutive years. “This year’s competition can be presented in a richer and more dynamic format, truly achieving a deep integration of ‘Tourism + Education.’ Through engaging and educational activities such as the lunar eclipse lecture, we hope students can experience firsthand the fascination of astronomy.”

For the second consecutive year, GEG serves as the title sponsor, partnering with the organiser to provide a platform for local youth to learn about and exchange knowledge in astronomy.
Over the years, GEG has actively promoted youth science education through diversified programmes, enhancing young people’s understanding of the nation’s cutting-edge technological advancements and supporting Macau in nurturing outstanding future science and technology talents.
During the inaugural event, a representative of the Macao Science Center, delivered a lecture using the centre’s dome projection system, providing an in-depth explanation of the formation principles of lunar eclipses, key observation techniques, and the unique characteristics of the phenomenon.
The “2026 Macau Astronomy Study Tour & GEG Astronomy Cup – The 2nd Macau (International) Youth Astronomy Competition” is organised by the Science Education Promotion Association of Macau and title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG).
Registration for the “GEG Astronomy Cup” is open to Macau secondary school students until March 6. The competition serves as the Macau regional selection for the Ministry of Education’s whitelist event, the “Chinese National Astronomy Olympiad.”
Winners will have the opportunity to represent Macau at the national-level competition, competing alongside top students from across China and showcasing the scientific literacy and exploratory spirit of Macau’s youth.
The 2nd “GEG Astronomy Cup” includes competitions, school sharing, workshops, and study tours. The initiative aims to continuously promote science education, cultivate diverse young talent in Macau, and guide youth in gaining deeper insight into the nation’s scientific research and innovation development.
