Hong Kong: former tycoon Jimmy Lai will not appeal 20-year prison sentence

The defence team of Jimmy Lai Chee-ying said today that the pro-democracy former Hong Kong media tycoon will not appeal his 20-year prison sentence for crimes against China’s national security.

Jimmy Lai’s legal team confirmed the decision to the Associated Press news agency via text message, without stating the reasons for ending a legal battle that lasted several years.
