Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said today before members of Congress that she did not know convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and had no knowledge of his criminal activities, at the start of hearings that will also include former President Bill Clinton.

“I had no idea about his criminal activities. I do not recall ever meeting Mr. Epstein,” Hillary Clinton stated in an opening statement that she shared on social media.

The testimonies are taking place behind closed doors in Chappaqua, a town in the state of New York where the Clintons live, following months of exchanges between the former Democratic presidential couple and the House Oversight Committee, which is controlled by Republicans.
This will be the first time that a former President of the United States is compelled to testify before Congress.
