Iran War: Trump orders destruction of vessels laying mines in Hormuz (with video)

This aggressive posture marks a potential escalation in the ongoing geopolitical conflict, which has been mired in a fragile truce and a diplomatic stalemate

President Donald Trump has issued a stark directive to the United States Navy, ordering the destruction of any vessel observed placing mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. In a message posted on Truth Social, the President emphasized that the Navy should operate without hesitation, stating that he has commanded mine-clearing operations to proceed at triple their current capacity.

This aggressive posture marks a potential escalation in the ongoing geopolitical conflict, which has been mired in a fragile truce and a diplomatic stalemate following the collapse of initial negotiations in Pakistan.

While the ceasefire with Iran remains technically active, the situation remains highly volatile. The United States has intensified its enforcement of a naval blockade on Iranian ports, recently confirming the interception of a second oil tanker in the Indian Ocean.

According to statistics released yesterday by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces have successfully blocked the transit of at least 31 ships since the blockade began. To maintain this perimeter, more than 10,000 U.S. military personnel, supported by 17 warships and 100 aircraft, are currently patrolling the waters surrounding Iran to ensure no vessels enter or exit the country’s ports.

Despite the military escalation, diplomatic channels remain open. President Trump indicated that he is awaiting a unified proposal from Tehran, noting that there is a possibility for peace talks to resume in Pakistan this coming Friday.

The military strategy and diplomatic maneuvering come alongside a significant shake-up within the highest levels of the U.S. defense establishment. The Pentagon announced the resignation of Navy Secretary John Phelan today, following months of reported internal disputes between the Department of Defense leadership and high-ranking military officials.
