China Tourism Group Duty Free acquires DFS’s Macau, Hong Kong operation

China Tourism Group Duty Free (CTG Duty Free), a dominant travel retail operator in mainland China, has agreed to acquire the Macau and Hong Kong operations of luxury travel retailer DFS Group, along with related intangible assets, including intellectual property rights for exclusive use, in Greater China.

The companies announced the agreement in a joint statement on Monday. DFS Group—majority-owned by French multinational luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, alongside DFS co-founder Robert Miller—will retain control of its global operations outside of the two Chinese SARs, the statement stressed.

This deal will more than triple CTG Duty Free’s store count in Macau, increasing its presence from three outlets to ten.
