Macau ranks sixth in Asia-Pacific for international visitors in 1H25: PATA

Macau ranked as the sixth most visited destination across the Asia-Pacific and Americas in the first half of 2025, supported by its diversified tourism offerings and upgraded infrastructure, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) said.

In its 2025 Annual Tourism Monitor released this week, the non-profit organisation estimated Macau welcomed 19.2 million international visitors from January to June, translating to a 14.9 percent year-on-year increase.

But the PATA definition of “international visitors” includes arrivals from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, whereas Macau’s authorities do not classify those as overseas arrivals. According to the Macau Statistics and Census Service, the city received only 1.34 million international tourists in the same period, up 14.8 percent from a year earlier.
