Before Montenegro’s statement, the Public Prosecutor’s Office clarified that the preventive investigation into Spinunviva was still “ongoing” and awaiting documentation. Montenegro emphasized that he has provided “all clarifications” requested and condemned the insinuations as “absolutely unfounded.”
He expressed frustration over “obscure maneuvers” and highlighted the vulnerabilities of democracy, urging citizens not to be swayed by such tactics, especially with local elections approaching. He reiterated his commitment to continue his work despite these challenges.
Earlier in September, the Attorney General stated that the Public Ministry had requested additional documentation from the Prime Minister to conclude the preventive investigation into his family’s business, Spinunviva. This case had previously led to the resignation of Montenegro’s first government following a failed confidence vote in Parliament last March.
