The “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: We Are Macau Athletes” Season 2, title-sponsored by GEG, organized by the Macau Sports Channel, and supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, will take place from July this year to March next year.
The opening ceremony and sports carnival took place on June 29 at the Olympic Sport Centre Stadium in Taipa. In the presence of distinguished guests including Bai Bing, Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR Government; Luís Gomes, President of the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Chan Iok Wai, Head of Department of Students from Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Ma Chi Seng, Secretary-General of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China; the new season was officially kicked off.
Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG, stated that the company remains committed to supporting the SAR Government’s policies on sports development. Over the years, GEG has actively supported, hosted, and participated in numerous large-scale international sports events while contributing to the sustainable development of local sports through a wide range of initiatives.
Lei Sao Keong, Editor-in-Chief of the Macau Sports Channel, expressed that the Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: We Are Macau Athletes Season 2 provides a valuable platform for local athletes to be seen and recognized. It also inspires young people and helps instill positive energy.
Following the launch ceremony, the organizers premiered a specially produced promotional video for the new season. Athletes then joined the sports carnival, teaming up with the audience and members from GEG Staff Social Club to take on various sports challenges. The event showcased the vitality and approachability of Macau’s athletes and demonstrated teamwork. The athletes also engaged with the audience after the event, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere.
“Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: We Are Macau Athletes” Season 1 achieved strong results, holding ten events over six months and promoting competitive sports knowledge to approximately 3,500 local residents and students.
Season 2 features 12 athletes in different sports disciplines, including Kuok Kin Hang, Huang Junhua, Leong Ka Hang, Chao Man Hou, Lee Tak Man, Cheong Chi Chon, Cheong Chi Cheng, Hoi Long, Liu Kwai Chi, Loi Im Lan, Ian U In, and Au Ieong Sin Ieng.
Athletes will make their first community visit during the summer vacation in collaboration with the Jinan Eternal Love Medical Volunteers Association and GEG Volunteer Team to serve the community, demonstrating care and responsibility while acting as positive role models for young people.
