Carnival Overview & Strategic Focus
On May 24–25, the Galaxy Entertainment Macau Culture City Carnival—title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group and organized by the Macau International Events Promotion Association—transformed the revitalized Lai Chi Vun Shipyards into a cultural and sporting hub.
Supported by the Macau SAR Government’s Cultural Affairs and Sports Bureaux, the event united “culture + community + sports” to highlight Coloane’s historical charm and Macau’s “tourism+” appeal in the Greater Bay Area.
Orienteering Competitions & Participation
The carnival launched with the “World Orienteering PWT International Invitational Competition and Guangdong Historical Road Orienteering Competition (Macau, China),” drawing nearly 1,000 athletes from around the globe.
Top orienteers navigated courses through Coloane’s heritage sites, demonstrating the fusion of urban exploration and historical discovery—a strategic move to elevate Macau’s profile as an international sports venue.
Community Engagement & Cultural Market
A cultural market blended Lai Chi Vun’s restored shipyard architecture with creative stalls featuring local SMEs, arts & crafts, and food vendors.
“Community Exploration” passport stamps encouraged participants to visit landmarks and nearby businesses, redeeming exclusive gifts and deepening their connection to the district’s heritage.
Performances & Youth Initiatives
The festival hosted concerts by Hong Kong artists Ophelia and Blue, local bands FIDA and Single Path, and Macau singer Herson, attracting large crowds.
A youth-oriented “Minigame Orienteering Maze” at Galaxy Macau engaged influencers—including yoga teacher Coffee Lam—and GEG volunteers in hands-on navigation challenges, fostering broader public interest in orienteering.
Inclusivity & Sportsmanship
Reinforcing corporate social responsibility, GEG invited athletes from the Macau Special Olympics to compete alongside staff and community members, promoting inclusivity and the unifying spirit of sport.
Leadership Reflections & Future Outlook
Mr. Lo Tak Chong, President of the Macau International Events Promotion Association, thanked GEG for elevating Macau’s cultural and sporting landscape and noted the carnival’s role in reinforcing “tourism+sports+culture” synergy ahead of the 15th National Games.
Mr. Buddy Lam, GEG Director of Corporate Affairs, emphasized the event’s support for local SMEs and its contribution to Macau’s designation as “Culture City of East Asia 2025,” underlining GEG’s commitment to community development through large-scale, integrated events.
