GEG collaborated with IPIM to co-organize the “GEG SME X IPIM Enterprises Expansion Series: Business Matching Session for Products and Food from Macau Enterprises”, attracting over 200 representatives from nearly 140 local SMEs to participate.

Event Overview & Strategic Partnership

On May 6, 2025, GEG partnered with the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) to host the “GEG SME X IPIM Enterprises Expansion Series: Business Matching Session for Products and Food from Macau Enterprises” at JW Marriott Hotel Macau, Galaxy Macau, convening over 200 representatives from nearly 140 local SMEs to discuss procurement needs and future collaborations through product showcases and oneonone matching.

Keynote & Leadership Insights

Mr. Vincent U, President of IPIM, highlighted SMEs’ agility in innovation and IPIM’s commitment to creating diverse platforms—from pop-up zones to university sales— to help local SME to explore wider market. Mr. Philip Cheng, GEG Director, affirmed that empowering local SMEs is vital for Macau’s economic diversification and GEG will continue to leverage its own resources in creating more development opportunities for local SMEs.

SME Participation & Product Diversity

Participating SMEs spanned sectors such as hotel supplies, F&B, technology solutions, and facility equipment, including “Made in Macau” products, “Macau Brand” enterprises, and “Products agented by Macau Enterprises”.

Notably, 15 enterprises showcased goods from Portuguese and Spanish-speaking countries alongside. Twenty-five SMEs presented live product demonstrations during the “Product Showcases” session that GEG’s procurement team specifically arranged, engaging directly with relevant GEG departmental teams to enhance visibility and forge business ties.

Procurement & CapacityBuilding Initiatives

In 2024, GEG achieved a nearly 90% local procurement ratio, underscoring its commitment to community partners. The event also spotlighted GEG’s broader “GEG SME Series,” offering professional training, certification support, and business matching.

For the second year, the company sponsored the “SME Digitalization Support Services” program—launched by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center—to help SMEs in retail, catering, wholesale, lifestyle services, and manufacturing upgrade digital capabilities.

Future Outlook

Building on this success, GEG will continue practical measures—spanning match-making sessions, training, and digitalization support—to drive win-win outcomes, bolster local SME competitiveness, and share economic prosperity across Macau’s business community.
