The 8th Business Awards of Macau announces judging panel

The Business Awards of Macau unveils the judging panel for its 2025 edition, marking the event's eighth year of celebrating excellence in the business community.

This year’s 31-member panel comprises distinguished business leaders, academics, and professionals representing diverse sectors of Macau’s economy. Notably, most of the judges have been contributing to the Awards since its inception in 2013, reflecting their commitment and expertise.

This year, the panel welcomes four distinguished leaders from diverse countries and industries, each of whom has contributed to Macau’s development for many years. They bring extensive expertise in entertainment, technology, finance, and regional development, and are joining the judging team for the first time.

Among the new additions are:

  • Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff to Chairman & CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited.
  • Jay Chun: Honorary President of the Macau Leisure Tourism Services Innovation Association and recipient of Forbes’ “2014 Best Chief Executives of Listed Companies in China.” Dr. Chun brings over 30 years of experience in IT, marketing, and investment, holding multiple leadership roles in business and tourism associations.
  • Carlos Cid Álvares: Vice Executive Chairman and CEO of Banco Nacional Ultramarino, S.A. With a distinguished career in banking since 1984, Dr. Álvares actively contributes to Macau’s financial and business communities through his various leadership positions.
  • José Carlos Matias: CEO of Project Asia Corporation, and Director of Macau Business (English) and Business Intelligence (Chinese) magazines, as well as the online news platform Macau News Agency (MNA).

Choy, Filipe Cunha Santos, Jay Chun, Jacky So Yuk-Chow, James Chu, João Francisco Pinto, José Carlos Matias, José I. Duarte, Kevin Ho King Lun, Larry So, Lau Pak Hung, Manuela António, Melina Leong, Miguel de Senna Fernandes, Paul Tse, Paula Ling, Paulo A. Azevedo, Rui J. Cunha, Rutger Verschuren, Sunny Ip, Terry Sio, and Vong Kok Seng (listed in no particular order).

Key Dates and Event Details

This year’s nominations closed on 15th March, attracted over 80 submissions. From April, the judging panel will evaluate these entries, and winners will be determined based on averaged scores.

The highlight of the 8th Annual Business Awards of Macau will be the Awards Ceremony, scheduled for 20th May 2025, at the Ballroom of Studio City. During the event, the most outstanding contributors across 12 categories will be honored, including Leading by Example; Entrepreneur; Young Entrepreneur; New Talent; Most Valuable Brand; Innovation; Corporate Social Responsibility; Environmental Performance; Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs); Non-Profit Organisation; Greater Bay Area and Grand Merit Award.
