According to Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping will visit Macau next Wednesday to attend a series of activities celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to China and the inauguration ceremony of the sixth government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR). During his visit, he will also inspect the region.
Xi Jinping previously attended the 15th and 20th anniversaries of Macau’s return in 2014 and 2019, delivering significant speeches on both occasions.
PLATAFORMA had already reported in October that several institutions in Macau had begun preparing for Xi Jinping’s visit.
In preparation for the visit, Guangdong and Macau have increased security measures to ensure safety during the events. The Zhuhai Municipal Government issued an announcement on December 3, stating that airspace restrictions will be in place from December 14 to 22 to safeguard the security of Zhuhai and Hengqin during important activities.
The announcement specifies that unauthorized units, organizations, or individuals are prohibited from conducting low-altitude flights in the restricted areas. Additionally, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge shuttle service will be suspended from December 3 to 22 due to related operational requirements.
Shenzhen has also implemented relevant law enforcement measures. The Shenzhen Maritime Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade, in collaboration with the Coast Guard, Maritime Affairs, and Customs, will carry out joint patrols to ensure the safety and stability of the eastern and western maritime areas of Shenzhen, while also preventing environmental risks.
