55th Charity Bazaar

“Bring joy to your neighbours, blessings permeate far beyond” was the theme of this year’s bazaar, aimed at promoting joy and positive energy, and passing on wisdom and blessings to more people. Caritas Macau is using all funds raised from the bazaar for its operations.

A total of 100 Sands Cares Ambassadors volunteered to run a fundraising game booth at the bazaar Nov. 2-3, with visitors to the booth winning prizes that included hotel accommodation, food and beverage vouchers, and tickets to Harry Potter: The Exhibition – Macao, at The Londoner Macao.

Sands China was the first integrated resort operator to join the Charity Bazaar in 2011, making this year the 14th consecutive year of setting up game booths for the public to enjoy.

Additionally, Sean McCreery, Executive Vice President of Operations for Sands China Ltd., presented a MOP 200,000 ceremonial cheque for Caritas Macau to Pun at the bazaar’s opening ceremony on Nov. 2 at Nam Van Nautical Centre.

Sands China Ltd. Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Wilfred Wong said: “Sands China is very pleased to continue our long-standing support of Caritas Macau, one of the oldest and most impactful charities in Macao. We hope that the funds raised from the events will help expand Caritas Macau’s AgEnrich Senior Service to support local home-based elderly care, so that seniors can enjoy a fulfilling life. We extend heartfelt gratitude to Caritas Macau for organising these two meaningful events and to our Sands Cares Ambassadors for once again embodying the Sands Cares ethos by uplifting vulnerable individuals and working together to forge a vibrant and compassionate community.”

Pun said: “Thank you to Sands China for their ongoing support and donations towards the various activities of Caritas Macau. We are thrilled to have Sands Cares Ambassadors participate in the carnival, adding to the festive spirit. We look forward to Caritas Macau and the Sands Cares Ambassadors collaborating to further develop charitable endeavours, joining hands to bring more positive influence to society!”

Sands China has been making annual donations to Caritas Macau since 2004. The funds help support Caritas Macau’s operational expenses and its efforts to develop and implement social services in the community.

Sands China launched the Sands Cares Ambassador programme in August 2009, becoming the first integrated resort operator in Macao to promote volunteering services and establish a volunteer team.

The company is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the programme this year, whose membership now surpasses 3,300 volunteers from across all Sands China properties and comprising all levels of team members.

The company’s community work is part of the Sands Cares corporate citizenship programme.
