France investigates fake Eiffel Tower bomb threats

French police revealed this Monday that an investigation is underway into the two bomb threats to the Eiffel Tower over the weekend, which led to the monument being evacuated twice on the same day.

Suspects of “threats to life” and “false allegations about a dangerous incident” are being investigated, according to the French prosecutor, quoted by AFP.

A prison sentence of up to two years may be at stake.

The bomb threats to one of the main tourist attractions in Paris were made through messages published on the gaming website jeuxvideo.com and on moncommissariat.fr, an online contact platform between citizens and police officers.
