“After the success of the large-scale promotion of Macau in Lisbon, during the official visit of a delegation from the Macao SAR Government in April to Portugal, we are making great strides in boosting our tourist relations after the pandemic. We are pleased to welcome in this edition of the Tourism Expo the largest ever participation of Portugal and the prospect of receiving hundreds of Portuguese tour operators in Macau for the congress brings a strong impetus to our joint work to boost tourist flows.”

The president of APAVT, Pedro Costa Ferreira, said: “The congress to be held in 2025 will bring about a set of absolutely happy numbers. It will be our 50th congress! It will take place in the year in which APAVT will be 75 years old! And, what’s more, it will make Macau the city that will most often host our congress, six times in a 50-year history. We are grateful for the extraordinary support of DST, and, above all, for its ability to achieve. We are well aware of the responsiveness of Macau and of DST in particular, so we are absolutely relaxed about the logistical response.”

It should be noted that the Macau International Tourism (Industry) Expo, which ran until Sunday, this year had a reinforced presence from Portugal. Turismo de Portugal installed a Portugal Pavilion for the first time, there is also the premiere of a Madeira Pavilion, and Santa Maria da Feira participates in the Demonstrations of Creative Cities of Gastronomy. APAVT returned to the Tourism Expo, at the invitation of DST, with a delegation of around 20 people, which also includes tour operators and the Portuguese tourism press. The group will also visit the city’s new tourist offers, including hotels, gastronomy, heritage, culture, entertainment, among others, already in preparation for the congress.
