China called this Friday for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia and defended that dialogue is the only way to reach a viable solution to the conflict, in a proposal with 12 points.
The plan, released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, also called for an end to Western sanctions imposed on Russia, measures to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities, the establishment of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians and actions to guarantee the export of grain, after disruptions in supply caused prices to rise worldwide.
The first point highlighted the importance of “respect the sovereignty of all countries”, in a reference to Ukraine. “Universally recognized international law, including the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, must be strictly observed”, reads the proposal disseminated by Chinese diplomacy.
“The sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries must be effectively preserved”, he pointed out.
