A Russian drone strike on the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine has left approximately 54,000 people without electricity. According to the regional state energy company, the attack caused significant damage to power infrastructure in the Nizhin district, a vital rail hub that has been targeted repeatedly in recent months.
The strike was part of a broader, intensive aerial campaign overnight, during which Russia launched 143 long-range drones across Ukrainian territory. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that while their air defense systems successfully intercepted and neutralized 116 of these drones, 22 managed to hit 17 different locations throughout the country.

The conflict saw significant activity on both sides of the border. Ukrainian media reported that drones struck rail infrastructure in the Rostov region of southern Russia on Monday night.
In response to these incursions, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 97 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones over eight different Russian regions and the Black Sea.
