In a decision marked by reactions and turnovers on the scoreboard, the Kansas City Chiefs team won the Super Bowl, the decision of the main American football league (NFL), by beating the Philadelphia Eagles by 38 to 35 this Sunday. The 2022 season title (LVII edition) was won at a neutral field in Phoenix, Arizona. After the Eagles had dominated a good part of the game (it went to halftime with 24 to 14), the Chiefs managed to come back by 38 to 35. It was the second biggest comeback in the history of the American league.
The confrontation signals, in a symbolic way, the passage of the oval ball between different generations. After the retirement of quarterback Tom Brady, who marked an era in the NFL after more than 20 years in the league and seven titles, the final marked the private duel between Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, leaders of their franchises and who form the youngest duo to face each other in a Super Bowl. With a great performance, Mahomes, current NFL MVP, won and lifted his second trophy in his third Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs faced their third Super Bowl contest in four years. The recipe for success once again goes through Patrick Mahomes, one of the biggest names in the NFL. Upon reaching his third Super Bowl, he matched a Tom Brady mark and became the second quarterback in history to play in three Finals in his first six years in the NFL.
The physical problems, mainly an ankle injury during the second round of the playoffs, were a challenge that he had to overcome in the decision. Mahomes returned to ankle pain late in the first half.
