Plane with 145 passengers lands in Sydney with only one engine

A Qantas Airways flight traveling from Auckland, New Zealand, to Sydney, Australia, landed safely on a single engine today after issuing a warning as it flew over the Pacific Ocean.

Qantas Flight 144, with 145 passengers on board, landed at Sydney Airport after a three-and-a-half-hour flight between the most populous cities in neighboring nations.

The Boeing 737-838 “experienced an issue” with one of its two engines about an hour outside of Sydney, Qantas said in a statement.
