Xavi on Ronaldo in Arabia: “It won’t be a walk”

In the preview of the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup, which will be played this Thursday (19h00), in Riyadh, against Betis, the coach of Barcelona, Xavi Hernández, had the opportunity to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo’s trip to Arabia Arabia, more precisely for Al Nassr. The former midfielder believes that CR7 can make the difference, but that it won’t be a walk in the park, given that the Saudi championship is “competitive”.

“Cristiano will face a competitive league, with high-level teams that have several foreign players. It will not be easy. But he’s a born competitor and he’s sure to make the difference here, even though it won’t be a walk in the park. I played against several teams when I coached Al Sadd and it’s going to be a challenge, it’s a complicated league”, he warned.

In another context, Xavi spoke about the fact that the Spanish Super Cup will be played in Riyadh. “We are professionals in this sport. It’s good for Spanish football to come here, it benefits all teams. Also the smaller teams that are going through economic problems. There are positive things and others not so much. There were also many criticisms of Qatar and then we saw that it was not so bad [the 2022 World Cup]. Saudi Arabia has things to improve, but so does Spain. There are 200 things to improve in Spain. And everyone deserves football to be global”, defended the coach.
