Ukraine can win the war this year if Western countries multiply deliveries of weapons, especially long-range missiles – Ukrainian presidential adviser Mikhailo Podoliak said in an interview with AFP, promising that these systems will not be used to attack Russian territory.
“Only missiles with a range of more than 100 km will allow us to significantly accelerate the disengagement from the territories,” he said, considering that with this material, the end of the conflict can be achieved by the fall.
According to Podoliak, this type of missile will allow the Ukrainian Army to reach Russian weapons depots, which Moscow keeps far from the front lines in the occupied territories. With this, he explains, they are out of range of the systems currently available to Ukrainian forces.
The Ukrainians already use the dreaded American HIMARS systems (80 km range) and have just received their French equivalent, the LRU missile launchers, 70 km range. They claim, however, the American ATACMS missiles, which reach 300 km.
Podoliak claims that if Kiev obtains these weapons, it will not be to attack Russian territory.
“We are not going to attack Russia. We wage an exclusively defensive war,” he insisted.
