South Korea fires warning shots after North Korean drones violate airspace

South Korea fired warning shots on Monday at North Korean drones that violated its airspace, the South Korean military said. South Korean authorities did not say, however, whether the drones were shot down.

While fighting drones, a South Korean KA-1 light plane crashed shortly after leaving its Wonju base in the east of the country, advances the Reuters agency. Its two pilots managed to escape and are now in hospital.

The South Korean Ministry of Transport had stated, before the attack, that flights departing from Incheon and Gimpo airports had been suspended following a request from the military.
