The Berlin government has announced that it has taken control of the activities in the country of Russian state oil company Rosneft, which manages several German refineries, in order to “guarantee” the supply of energy to Germany.
Rosneft’s subsidiaries in Germany are placed under “trusteeship” by the national agency that manages the power grids, the German Economy Ministry said.
In a statement, the ministry justified the decision with the need to protect three refineries owned by Rosneft, which represent 12% of Germany’s oil refining capacity.
