Stromae closed the first day of Nos Alive in beauty. The Strokes complied, but didn’t surprise. The honors of the day also go to Jungle, who gave a real show at the end of the afternoon. This Thursday, Florence + The Machine, Jorja Smith, Alt-J and Four and a Half will perform on the main stage.
Paul Van Haver, better known as Stromae, was the big star of the Nos Alive main stage. An artist from head to toe, he gave a real show with LEDs, props, animations, and even a robot dog that came on stage to give him a coat. Nothing was random in Stromae’s debut in Portugal.

The sober attire contrasted with the tone of the artist, who despite speaking mostly in French had no trouble connecting with the audience. “L’enfer”, “Tout les Memes”, and “Fils de Joie”, from the album released in March of this year “Multitude”, warmed up the venue for the explosion that would happen with the hits “Papaoutai”, “Formidable”, and “Alors on danse”. He choreographed the audience and even called for silence to close the show with an “a cappella” version of the song “Mon Amour”. The singer Stromae shone, but it was the artist who brought to life one of the most electrifying performances of the day.
Despite the delay, the fans didn’t stop to watch the headliners of the first day. The Strokes started timidly with the single “Chances” from the album “Comedown Machine” (2013). Julian Casablancas didn’t let the energy fade between songs, he confessed to be drunk “again”, and it was with this spirit and openness that he excited the audience of different generations. “Bad decisions” and “The adults are talking” – from the latest album “The new abnormal” – were also part of the setlist. The latter earned the New York group the Grammy for Best Rock Album of 2021, considered by many to be a reflection on the passing years, where they were more introspective than ever.
