US sanctions five Venezuelan politicians for “ruining democracy”

The United States sanctioned, on Tuesday (22), five politicians from Venezuela, accusing them of collaborating with the government of Nicolás Maduro to “ruin democracy” in the South American country, in a new measure of pressure against Caracas.

Miguel Antonio José Ponente Parra, Guillermo Antonio Luces Osorio, José Bernabé Gutiérrez Parra, Chaim José Bucaran Paraguan and Williams José Benavides Rondón were included in the negative list of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), said the Treasury.

As a result, all of their assets and assets under the jurisdiction of the United States will be blocked and they will be prohibited from carrying out any transactions with American individuals and entities.
