USJ reinforces language teaching and hires more Portuguese teachers

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) underwent an internal restructuring, and new faculties were created. The result was translated into changes in the functioning of the Portuguese department, which was absorbed by the new Department of Languages and Cultures.

To HM, the director of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Carlos Caires, said that this does not mean a lesser bet on the Portuguese language, quite the contrary.

“There is no extinction of the department, there is a reformulation. No teacher is in danger of being fired. I can assure you that it is in our goals to increase language teaching in all college and USJ degrees. ”

Proof of this is the recruitment, in the next semester, of four Portuguese language teachers, “three new hires and the arrival of a scholarship holder from Brazil”, explained Carlos Caires.
