Brazil decides to partially reopen the country’s air borders

The Jair Bolsonaro government decided to partially reopen air borders for foreigners. The new decree should be published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette (DOU) later this Wednesday.

At the beginning of the month, the government had extended until the end of July restrictions on the entry of foreigners, of any nationality, into the country. The measure met the recommendation of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and includes land and water borders, which must remain closed.

The impediment does not apply to Brazilians who are in a foreign country, or an immigrant with permanent residence in Brazil.
