US sanctions China accused of violating ethnic minority rights

The United States today announced sanctions against several Chinese leaders, accused of being linked to “serious human rights violations” of ethnic minorities in China, in particular Uighurs.

The sanctions were released simultaneously by the Department of the Treasury (equivalent to the Ministry of Finance) and by the Department of State (diplomacy).

In the note issued by the State Department, the head of US diplomacy, Mike Pompeo, said that entry visas to the United States are now banned for three senior Chinese regime officials and their families following “abuses. horrible and systematic ”against Uighurs, but also against other minorities.
