Portuguese language teaching continues to develop

With the stabilization of the Covid-19 pandemic in Macau, another sector started to recover. News about the development of Portuguese language teaching appeared again in the media. On June 8, the Macao Polytechnic Institute (IPM), the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) and the Hong Kong University Institute of Vocational and Continuing Education (HKUSPACE) signed a cooperation agreement to establish the “Alliance for the Teaching of the Portuguese Language in the biggest bay ”. This is the first Portuguese language teaching alliance in the Greater Bay area.

…there have been an increasing number of people in Hong Kong who want to learn Portuguese.

In the current situation, adding self-value and investing in education is a good direction. This cooperation also marked the integration of education in the Greater Bay area, integrating resources from various regions and complementing the strengths of each other. This can prepare opportunities after the pandemic and strengthen Macau’s bilingual talents, as well as the talents of Grand Bay.

HKUSPACE President William K. M. Lee said that there have been an increasing number of people in Hong Kong who want to learn Portuguese. This shows that the development of Portuguese language teaching in the Greater Bay area is becoming increasingly vigorous.

In addition, IFT Macau has started training courses in Portuguese, including Portuguese for tourism, hotels and Portuguese for restaurants, and is currently enrolling students. Class time varies from 30 to 50 hours. This is suitable for those who wish to add value to themselves and improve their skills after further studies to deal with the future development of the tourism industry.
