More than 50 gold prospectors detained in Huíla

In the middle of a state of emergency due to Covid-19, 53 people between 40 and 50 years of age were arrested in the last two days by the National Police, following a search operation for illegal gold miners, in the municipality of Chipindo, (eastern Lubango), province of Huíla.


The operation made it possible to arrest, in flagrante delicto, men and women, between nationals and foreigners, who performed gold mining in the towns of Cassanda and Chiliva.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, counted on the participation of FAA personnel and allowed the arrest of three citizens, as alleged principals, buyers and suppliers of machinery for gold mining. Several prospectors were detained in shacks built in the activity areas.
