Luanda: Weak policing accentuates disrespect for confinement

Fula Martins

The situation, which has been observed since 27 March, the date of the beginning of the State of Emergency, remains unchanged despite the extension of the measure. Paraíso, Balumuka, Retranca, Pedreira and Cerâmica, in the municipality of Cacuaco, Sonefe 11 de Novembro, Malueca, Papá Simão, Bananeira, Curtume and Kwanzas, in the municipality of Cazenga, are a reflection of this reality. The same happens in the neighborhoods Fofoca, Seis Cajueiros, Ponte Partida, Ka-Uíge / Uíge, Estalagem KM-12-A, Ka-Prédio, Mbote Muenhu and Suave, municipality of Viana, and in the neighborhoods Camama and Calemba II, in Belas and Kilamba Kiaxi, respectively.

Celeste Martins is a resident of the Balumuka neighborhood. Since the entry into force of the State of Emergency, almost three weeks later, Celeste Martins only saw, last Tuesday, a National Police vehicle circulating in the neighborhood.
