G7 supports temporary suspension of debt payments for poor countries

The G7 agrees with the suspension if the G20 governments also approve the measure – the respective finance ministers announced on Tuesday (14) .
To help these countries contain the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, G7 members (Germany, Canada, France, United States, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom) “are ready to provide a temporary suspension of debt service payments (… ), if all official bilateral creditors are united in the G20 and according to what was established with the Paris Club “, they affirm in a statement released after a videoconference meeting.
