AS Roma, featuring 19-year-old Portuguese prospect Rodrigo Mora in the starting lineup, opened their 2026/27 Italian Serie A campaign with a decisive victory, defeating Fiorentina 4-0 at home on the opening matchday.
Dutch forward Donyell Malen delivered a standout performance by scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 27th, 52nd, and 60th minutes. All three goals were assisted by Argentine playmaker Paulo Dybala, who controlled much of the match’s attacking rhythm.
Following the substitutions of Malen in the 68th minute and Dybala in the 79th, Roma added a fourth goal in the 86th minute through Niccolò Pisilli, who had come off the bench just seven minutes earlier.

Making his debut following his transfer from FC Porto, Rodrigo Mora started the match and nearly opened his scoring account in the 19th minute with a powerful strike, which was denied by a save from Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea. Mora played 54 minutes before being substituted. For Fiorentina, former Porto right-back João Mário started on the left side of defense and played 80 minutes.
In the day’s other Serie A fixture, Lazio secured a 1-0 away victory against Bologna. Midfielder Davide Frattesi, currently on loan from Inter Milan, scored the winning goal following a throw-in routine linked up by a backheel pass from Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia. Portuguese international left-back Nuno Tavares began the match on the bench for Lazio, coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute.
