Shakira made history at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, taking the stage alongside Madonna, Justin Bieber, and BTS for the inaugural 2026 World Cup halftime performance during the final match between Spain and Argentina. The Colombian superstar chose the high-profile stage to showcase her song “Dai Dai,” with proceeds benefiting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

For the landmark performance, Shakira reteamed with designer Fausto Puglisi to create a bespoke Roberto Cavalli ensemble. The outfit paid homage to her iconic 2010 World Cup closing ceremony appearance, where she wore a vibrant creation by Cavalli himself. Shakira noted that returning to the tournament stage in similar vibrant tones created a meaningful full-circle moment connecting her past performances with the present, Vogue reports.

Puglisi designed a silhouette inspired by his Resort 2025 collection, featuring a plunging crisscross neckline, lace-up accents, side cutouts, and a flowing, multi-strip skirt designed to maximize movement.

The sunset-inspired color palette—combining vibrant orange, bright pink, and yellow—was drawn from Shakira’s vision of warm evening skies and architectural hues found in Mexico City’s La Condesa neighborhood. Artisans spent 120 hours hand-applying more than 200,000 Swarovski crystals to complete the garment.
