The Scientific and Criminal Investigation Police (PCIC) of East Timor arrested a 47-year-old Chinese national today at Dili International Airport following an Interpol Red Notice issued at the request of Chinese authorities.
According to an official statement released on the PCIC’s website, the suspect had been wanted since Thursday and was attempting to board an international flight to leave the country.

Chinese authorities suspect the man of organizing prostitution, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment in China. The original arrest warrant was issued by Chinese law enforcement in December 2024.
The PCIC stated that it will proceed with the judicial process alongside competent authorities to facilitate applicable legal procedures, including a potential extradition request from China.
